Open Standards Workshop

Standardization or harmonization has been an important task within the field of tourism at all times. There exist a lot of different initiatives with different approaches - but all with the same objective: global harmonization and interoperability. In the age of eBusiness and eCommerce and increasing globalization of electronic trading, harmonization and interoperability are more important than ever and one of the big challenges in the field of tourism. The open standards workshops are designed to act as a forum for various groups with an interest in open standards to come together to exchange views and identify areas for co-operation and joint activity.

The first workshop presents different standardization initiatives and important harmonization aspects, focusing on methodologies and concepts for reaching interoperability. The second workshop concentrates on an open (panel lead) discussion of the presented initiatives and approaches, their chances of success, their implications on tourism markets.
